Excerpted from Health Me Up, on Monday (05/08/2013), here are some ways you can do to make it easier to fall asleep and wake up the next day with bright eyes and fresh body:

1. Read a book

Read a favorite book before bed is an easy way to calm the mind. Fiction seems to be the best choice because in general fiction not overload the brain. But, do not try to read it from a tablet computer because blue light contained within it will hamper your sleep.

2. Limit your drinking water

Very important for our body to stay hydrated throughout the day, but drinking too much water before bed can disturb your peace of sleep. Waking up to go to the bathroom can disrupt sleep cycles. Therefore it is better to drink a little water before bed rather than downing a large glass of water.

3. Avoid technological devices

Televisions, smartphones, and computers could be one cause you will stay awake all night. According to some studies, this is due to exposure to blue light from an electronic device able to reduce the release of the hormone melatonin, which plays a role in the process of sleep. So, you will find it difficult to fall asleep. If you want the quality of a better night's sleep, you should avoid exposure to the electronics before you go to bed.

4. Dim the room lights

Light can trigger the release of hormones and chemicals that keep us awake or actually makes the body to get up too quickly. So, when sleep should turn off your room lights and use heavy curtains to reduce light from outside or can also use blindfolds to reduce the amount of light in the bedroom so you can get a better sleep.

5. Relax

Think of things that will happen in the next day as work, financial, or personal problems, will charge the mind and make it hard to sleep. Should solve all these problems after dinner or one to two hours before bedtime. Better to move on the next day if the issue can be postponed. This will help clear your mind and reduce stress and anxiety levels up you will find it easier to fall asleep.

6. Say no to caffeine

Coffee might help overcome drowsiness in the morning. But make sure you do not drink it after 14.00. If you drink coffee on 14.00 then chances are you will find it hard to sleep at night.

7. Avoid noise

Sirens, noisy neighbors, the music played at high volume, or even a snoring partner will make it difficult to fall asleep. Therefore, make sure that your bedroom at least have a fan or air conditioner that is not too noisy so this will help you make it easier to fall asleep.
