Existing Chemical Substances in Cigarette

Already known, smoking is an activity that is not healthy for the smoker and for those around him. This is because the chemicals contained in cigarettes are harmful.

If you continue to expose the body, of these hazardous chemicals can cause disease. On the average, each cigarette contains over 3,000 harmful chemicals.

Well here are some harmful chemicals in cigarettes to note, as quoted from Boldsky, Sunday (08/11/2013):

1. Coumarin


Coumarin is an additive in foods are now prohibited under world standards. But organic addictive substances is still widely used in cigarettes.

2. Reciprocal


Elevated levels of lead in the blood can cause poisoning, even death in extreme cases. Lead is also known as a carcinogen.

3. Hydrogen Cyanide


It is known that the poison cyanide is the fastest in the world. In combination with hydrogen, these chemicals can damage the cilia in the bronchial tubes and lungs. Though fine hair like cilia function normally helps to drag out the toxins in the air that is inhaled.

4. Naphthalene


Naphthalene mothballs or material used to keep insects and rodents out of clothes. Well, this chemical is also contained in cigarettes. Imagine, that smokers inhale camphor material from his mouth.

5. Chromium


Chromium is a metal that is clearly causing cancer. But even worse, chromium attaches to the DNA and cause damage.

6. Nitrogen Oxides


Nitrogen oxides are air pollutants generated factories and cars. These are poisonous and can cause inflammation in the lungs. This substance is also contained in cigarette smoke.

7. Cadmium


Cadmium is a metal used to make batteries. In smokers, inhaled chemicals will be stored in the lining of the kidneys that can cause kidney damage.

8. Ammonia


Ammonia odor reminiscent of toilet cleaners. This foul-smelling chemicals could create a headache but make smoking activity becomes very addictive.

9. Carbon monoxide


Approximately five percent of cigarette smoke is carbon monoxide. This poisonous gas attaches to red blood cells and reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. As a result, damaged lungs and potentially develop coronary disease.

10. Acetone


Acetone is a chemical which is familiar to most women. Because this material is contained in nail polish remover. Well, cigarettes also contain acetone. Imagine these chemicals enter through the airways and lungs dwells.

11. Formaldehyde


Formaldehyde is a chemical used to preserve dead bodies. Well, the same substances contained in cigarettes, hiii.

12. Tar


Carcinogenic tar cigarettes appear when burned. These chemicals can cause a variety of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, impotence, blood diseases, enfisema, chronic bronchitis, and interruption of pregnancy.

13. Arsenic


Arsenic is a metal that can easily poison the blood. Even many factory workers who died from arsenic poisoning. Accumulation of arsenic in the body damaging cells' ability to renew itself.

14. Benzene


Benzene is a petrochemical that is used to download dry clean clothes. The content is also a carcinogen that can cause cancer of the blood.

15. Nicotine


Nicotine is present in very high amounts in cigarettes. This substance derived from the tobacco itself. Nicotine causes cancer and destroy the DNA structure.
